Does Your Vote Count?
Are you confident your vote will matter this November?
The November presidential election is fast approaching. Both major parties have presumptive nominees and media coverage is ramping up. Along the way, we’ve heard that voters are frustrated with the process of choosing party nominees. And we’ve heard questions about the inteqrity of the voting system.
We’re joining NPR’s “A Nation Engaged” project with other member stations in asking listeners; Do you think your vote matters? Are you excited to go to the polls in November? Or are you feeling disenfranchised? Are you confident your vote will count?
Kianna from Oak Park says: “I believe the influence you have with other people… might make your vote count more, ultimately.”
Tom from Detroit says: “I tell people, ‘If you don’t go out and vote, you’re going to get what I want because I vote every time.’ If you don’t vote you have absolutely no right to complain.”
Michael from Detroit says “I don’t feel like my vote really matters that much… I feel like [it would be more fair] if we got to vote for as many [presidential] candidates as we like.”
