Rep. Sander Levin On Donald Trump’s “Death, Destruction” RNC Speech
Levin blasts lack of “common purpose” in Trump’s depiction of America.
We’ve heard all week from Republicans and gotten the party faithful’s take on the proceedings at the Republican National Convention. How have Democrats and supporters of Hillary Clinton been taking in the week of the GOP celebration? Next week the Dems will tout the experience and capability of their nominee.
Congressman Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak) joins Detroit Today to give his take. He says Hillary Clinton’s message will undoubtedly stand in stark contrast to what he heard from Trump on Thursday night.
“He talked about… death, destruction. And we have problems in this country. But I don’t think the picture he paints is the picture of our country,” says Levin.
“I think that we’re much more a country that understands its challenges, but has a kind of optimism and a kind of sense of common purpose,” he continues. “There was no sense of common purpose in Donald Trump’s speech.”
