Vote Smart Throws Lifeline to Frustrated Electorate
Non-partisan group offers interactive tools to help voters make informed decisions.
Voters frustrated by misleading candidate claims and attack ads can turn to Project Vote Smart to help them sort fact from fiction. The group formed in 1986 to provide non-partisan, factual, and free information about public officials and candidates. Vote Smart board member Adelaide Kimball tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller that votesmart.org allows voters to do an “end run” around misinformation and find out where candidates really stand on issues they care about. The site features a candidate-matching tool and access to voting records and financial statements.
