LeVar Burton Brings Star Trek, Reading Rainbow Stories to Motor City Comic Con

LeVar Burton talks Roots, Star Trek:TNG and Reading Rainbow and his vision of the future at Motor City Comic Con.

There are only a few actors who are very well known for having played three very different roles.

But that’s the case with actor LeVar Burton.

He was the teenaged Kunta Kinte in the seminal TV miniseries “Roots,” the blind chief engineer Geordi La Forge in “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, and spent more than two decades hosting the series “Reading Rainbow” on PBS.

And Burton’s remained busy, recently becoming embroiled in a Twitter war after being misidentified as the father of basketball star Lonzo Bell.

Now Burton’s coming to this weekend’s Motor City Comic Con in Novi.

He tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter that Detroit is an old friend.
