Detroit MC Alexyn Wundrland talks Women in Hip Hop & New EP Release
“There are folks who are willing to listen to women’s voices in hip hop… and I think that’s a relatively new thing.” -Alexyn Wundrland
On Sunday, June 17, Detroit hip hop artist Alexyn Wundrland will bring jazz musicians, vocalists and graphics to her new EP release and concert on Wayne State’s campus. She stopped by WDET to talk about the upcoming performance and her hyper-lyrical EP, called “BARS,” which is described as covert liberation music.
“I think we should be aware of things that need to happen in the world,” she says, “and our roles in trying to like to create justice, but then also have a good time, you know? And you can do that in Wundrland.”
Alexyn Wundrland has been writing and performing for as long as she can remember, and recently she decided to compile her music into a cohesive production. To learn more about “BARS” and her concert, visit www.AL-WU.com.
