Knight Foundation Makes New Investment in Detroit’s Arts Scene

CEO Alberto Ibarguen joins Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to talk about the announcement, as well as the evolving arts ecosystem here in Detroit.

The Knight Foundation has spent $52 million on arts programs in Detroit since 2012, and it was one of the key contributors to the Grand Bargain, which helped settle Detroit’s bankruptcy and preserve the existence of the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Now, the foundation is making a new, $20 million commitment to arts in Detroit, to support organizations and endeavors that have been beyond their reach for some time, and to help find sustainable models, so arts programs can thrive for years to come.
