Jack White’s Third Man Records has added a mastering studio to its music production services.

The studio will streamline the production process and allow a quicker turnaround for artists using Third Man’s vinyl pressing plant.

Two respected names in Michigan music have been hired to helm the studio: Bill Skibbe, who worked on White’s most recent album, Boarding House Reach, and Warren Defever, who has engineering credits with Iggy and the Stooges and more.

CultureShift’s Amanda LeClaire spoke with Skibbe and Third Man Records’ Dave Buick to talk about the hidden art of mastering audio.
