“Pretty soon, as the country begins to figure out how we ‘open back up’ and move forward, very powerful forces will try to convince us all to get back to normal.” — Julio Vincent Gambuto, writer
It’s titled “Prepare For The Ultimate Gaslighting” and it appeared in Forge, an online magazine hosted on Medium, a popular blogging platform.
In the piece, the author shares his frustration and uncertainty about the new reality of living during the pandemic.
Listen: Julia Gambuto how marketing and media will try and make us forget COVID-19, but we choose the world we live in.
Guest
Julio Vincent Gambuto is a writer and filmmaker.
“One of the things that makes me cautious as a consumer is this blitz we’re probably going to see from brands, from governments that say ‘Hey, that wasn’t that big of a deal,'” says Gambuto. He notes that “we’re all feeling the same thing, which is that we’d all love to do more good in the world, we just don’t have the time to do it. I think this is a moment for all of us to take a deep breath and think about how we want to go forward.”
Gambuto says “we’ve been overwhelmed for years with the noise, and now that we have a moment to take a deep breath, we have to question whether we want to go back into the noise.”
