Detroit City Clerk Says Drop Off Absentee Ballot In-Person. Here’s Where to Go.

Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey is urging voters who still have absentee ballots to avoid sending them through the mail. Instead, the clerk is asking voters to drop their ballots off in-person. 

Winfrey says the mail is moving slower than usual right now “and we want to ensure that we get that ballot in a timely fashion. So, drop it off, at this point, don’t put it in the mail, and voters will be in good shape.”

Winfrey says voters can drop off their ballots at any time at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center at 2 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48226 (the ballot box is on Jefferson Ave.) or the Detroit Department of Elections located at 2978 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202. Ballots can also be dropped off at seven satellite absentee voting centers, one in each council district in Detroit.

The satellite voting centers will be open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. every day until the election. Then on Election Day, August 4th, the satellite voting centers will be open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
