Detroit Evening Report, March 11, 2022: Detroit parents less likely to get COVID-19 vaccine than residents without kids, report says
Welcome to the Detroit Evening Report, a daily round-up of news that city residents need to know.
Detroit parents are less likely to get vaccinated themselves than residents who don’t live with children, according to a new report from the Detroit Metro Area Communities Study supported by the University of Michigan’s Poverty Solutions initiative. Nearly 50% of Detroit parents and guardians of children under 18 reported that they had been vaccinated against COVID-19 as of the end of last year. That’s compared to 75% of adults who do not live with children. Low vaccination rates among parents in Detroit are related to low vaccination rates among children. Unvaccinated parents are 22 times less likely than vaccinated parents to report that their teenagers have been inoculated.
