Detroit Evening Report: April 20, 2022: DDOT no longer requiring masks on buses, shelters following federal court ruling
Welcome to the Detroit Evening Report, a daily round-up of news that city residents need to know.
A federal court ruling recently ended the public transportation mask mandate. The Detroit Department of Transportation will encourage but no longer require the use of masks on buses, at shelters or in buildings. DDOT continues to recommend that transportation riders, operators and employees wear masks, especially in areas that do not allow social distancing. DDOT also encourages riders and operators to respect the decisions of others whether to wear a mask. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continue to strongly recommend the use of face masks in indoor public transportation settings. DDOT will be updating its signage over the next few days to reflect the new policy
