Election season in Michigan brings a flood of candidate ads, and Governor Whitmer just released her first TV ad ahead of November’s gubernatorial election.

Instead of going negative against the GOP, Whitmer took a positive posture. In the 30-second spot, Whitmer focused on accomplishments and policy.
“It’s kind of following what we’ve seen from her so far. Pretty standard. Hitting on education especially, which, I think, is one of the more interesting parts of it,” says Rachel Louise Just, reporter at WWMT.
“I think that might be a little bit of a preview of what we’re going to see with her touting in the next couple of months.”
As the election draws nearer, says Just, GOP attacks on Whitmer are still likely, despite her positive tact early on.
