The Underground Music Academy is working to train the next generation of electronic music producers. The school is a passion project of local music legend Waajeed, a former DJ for Detroit hip-hop group Slum Village.
When it opened its doors, Sei went to the school to learn more. He found a community committed to celebrating the history of electronic music, spotlighting Detroit’s role as the place where techno was founded, and investing in local youth as the torchbearers of the city’s musical legacy and of its future.
