Democratic Presidential Candidates to Debate in Flint

Clinton and Sanders will debate in Flint. Dems charge state GOP officials let city’s water become tainted with lead.

The Democratic National Committee is announcing several new debates between rival candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

The first of those newly-scheduled debates will be held…in Flint.

Democratic Party officials say the presidential candidates requested a number of additional debates during the ongoing primary season.

One of the newly-scheduled forums will be held in Flint, two days before Michigan’s March 8th primary vote.

Former Secretary of State and  First Lady Hillary Clinton has called for a debate in Flint, saying it would draw attention to the city’s struggle with contaminated water, a situation Clinton argues would not have happened in a more affluent community.

About 40% of Flint residents live below the poverty line.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has said the water crisis should force Governor Rick Snyder to resign, since the state was in charge of Flint when its water supply became tainted by lead.
