We’re doin’ a little something different on today’s show. All the killer interstitial music you’ll hear, I’m talkin’ about the beats that intro and outro our segments, they’re select cuts off the new record from prolific Detroit producer Eddie Logix of the #CoOwnaz collective. It’s called Ohana and there’s a release party tonight with Eddie, as well as Peace to Mateo, Pig Pen, Dial 81 and DTCHPLANES.
We’re kicking off the show with Detroit’s Brendan Patrick. He’s the subject of a documentary film about his life and work. We’ll speak with the artist, who re-taught himself how to paint after losing his sight, as well as Rob Cousineau, one of the filmmaker’s behind the doc titled Can’t See Sh*t.
Brendan’s work is on display this Saturday at When Visions Collide, an art event at the Tangent Gallery.

Etienne Yver is a Parisian painter with an affinity for Detroit. He’s exhibiting this weekend at River’s Edge Gallery in Wyandotte and the Capital Theatre in Windsor. We’ll learn about the two cellos that brought him here in the first place
Plus, we’re listening to music from (and giving away tickets to see) Animal Collective (May 4th in Royal Oak) and Glen Hansard (Sept 17th in Ann Arbor) with some support from Taken By Trees and The Swell Season.
Then we’ll close out the show with the Culture City Jam of the Week. This time, it’s a Slowdivey rocker from Ypsilanti outfit Minihorse. the band’s playing tonight at The Blind Pig with one an act that’s undoubtedly of the best band’s in the State of Michigan, an incomparable quintet known around the world as The High Strung.
