‘Hard Knocks’ highlights Detroit comedian, Josh Adams

A Detroit comedian got a national spotlight last week.
The Detroit Lions are being featured on this season of HBO’s award-winning docuseries, ‘Hard Knocks.’ This is giving a massive platform to our Lions as they follow them getting ready for this season, which kicks off on September 11.

In the show’s third episode, Detroit comedian Josh Adams popped up to perform for the team, and it turned into a bit of a roast. He’s standing up in front of some of the most famous athletes, some of the most well-paid people in the state, comparing first round draft pick Aidan Hutchinson to the Backstreet Boys. And people are loving it.
Adams has been a regular at our WDET comedy showcases, “What’s So Funny About Detroit?,” so it was amazing to see this local comedian get some of that HBO national spotlight. CultureShift brought him in to the studio to talk a little bit about what that experience was like, actually being in front of these athletes and also gaining a ton of notoriety overnight.
“I was nervous but I played sports before. Just doing comedy, I get how locker room work, I get what it is. And you can tell by the way they handled that and the way they was able to laugh at each other that they got a chemistry as a team.” — Josh Adams, comedian
