Detroit Evening Report: Casinos brought in $1.2B in revenue in 2023, gaming board reports

Detroit’s three casinos brought in more than $1.2 billion in revenue last year, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

MGM Grand had the largest share of the market last year at 46%, followed by Motor City with 31% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown with 23%. The three casinos paid the State of Michigan $99.5 million in wagering taxes in 2023. In December alone, the casinos paid $13.8 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit.
Compared to 2022, yearly gaming revenue in 2023 from slots and table games for the three casinos in 2023 were down 6% at $564 million for MGM; down 5.8% at $373.6 million for Motor City; and up by 9.5% to $285.2 million for Hollywood Casino at Greektown.
