MI Legislature May Leave Life Saving Legislation on the Table

Bill to control cost of pill-form chemo drugs stalled in house insurance committee

As the Michigan legislature wraps up its work for 2016, special interest organizations and lobbyists are pressed for time to get specific bills passed. In the case of the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance, members are pushing for changes in access to chemotherapy drugs for all cancer patients. The legislation would cap the cost of chemo drugs in pill form. Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance spokesperson Michelle Shepard tells WDET’s Amy Miller that all but eight states have passed similar legislation.
