Warning for Small Pet Owners: Coyotes Coming

Cats, small dogs and other family pets are tempting, tasty, treats for bold coyotes

Warmer weather is bringing out more wildlife and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is warning property owners to keep an eye out for coyotes.

DNR Communications Coordinator Hannah Schauer tells WDET’s Amy Miller that each Spring the agency receives increased calls about roaming coyotes, especially in southern Michigan. And she says sightings in urban areas with larger populations are not uncommon.

Schauer says coyotes can adapt to nearly any environment.
