Detroit’s AJ Fosik Returns Home for Art Show at Library Street Collective
A force in the contemporary art world, Fosik’s intricate woodworking has its roots in street art
Hailing from the Motor City but currently living in Portland, Oregon, AJ Fosik is one of the most compelling artists in contemporary art today. He’s returning home for his first proper exhibition in Detroit is called “From Ripe to Rot” at Library Street Collective through October 7th. The new body of work is viewed as his most evolved yet and explores mythology through totemic animals intricately carved from often hundreds of pieces of wood. Some of the pieces take up to a month to make and sell for as high as $20,000. We talked with AJ Fosik about returning home to Detroit, his new exhibition and the motivations behind this latest body of work.
