DNR says too few people answered request for planning survey participation
Governor Rick Snyder showed enthusiasm during his State of the State speech…this week…for the Pure Michigan marketing campaign and for the state’s growing trail system. Snyder says non-resident daily passes at state parks in the Upper Peninsula increased more than 50-percent during the last three years. At the same time, he says the 2,000-mile long Iron Belle Trail, will be the longest statewide trail in the country once it’s completed.

Despite the governor’s enthusiasm, officials with the Department of Natural Resources are expressing disappointment over results of a recent statewide survey aimed at trail users. They say so few people participated, the results are not statistically relevant. Planners had hoped to use the results for future projects and more. The DNR may offer the survey again in the future.
