A new book by local author Anna Clark chronicles the events that led up to the Flint water crisis in 2014. Clark’s debut book, “The Poisoned City: Flint’s Water And the Urban American Tragedy” has already received critical acclaim, and front page mention on the cover of the Sunday New York Times Book Review.

Clark says the story of Flint is impossible to capture in short articles.

“It is a bigger story than can be fit into one dispatch or another. What I really wanted to do was illustrate what made Flint vulnerable in the first place,” she says.

Clark tells Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson she understood the magnitude of telling the story of Flint residents.

“Lives are really on the line [because of the water crisis]. They really are.”
