A Look at Michigan Opera Theatre’s New Season Featuring Literary Masterworks
A conversation about the 2018-2019 season and two performances from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.
The Michigan Opera Theatre’s new season is underway. The 2018-2019 schedule includes a number of productions based on literary works, beginning with Tchaikovsky’s adaptation of Alexander Pushkin’s novel Eugene Onegin. That production runs at the Detroit Opera House from Saturday, October 13th to Sunday, October 21st.
Detroit Today producer Jake Neher speaks with some of the folks from MOT about the new season, and we hear two live performances beginning with a performance from Eugene Onegin by Harry Greenleaf, a baritone in MOT’s studio program. Michael Day, a tenor in the studio program, also performs an aria from Onegin. They are accompanied by MOT studio program Principal Coach/Accompanist Tessa Hartle.
MOT Director of External Affairs Arthur White and Communications Manager Erica Hobbs also talk about the new season and reflect on the life and career of late MOT founder Dr. David DiChiera, who passed away last month after a battle with cancer.
We also hear about the new season of MOT’s podcast OperaHERE, which looks at each of the upcoming productions on the Detroit Opera House stage.
