Visual Arts in Detroit Get a Boost with New Magazine

Detroit artist Arturo Herrera decided to start ‘Barbed’ because he felt that too many local artists weren’t getting the kind of exposure they deserve.

Detroit artist Arturo Herrera decided to start a new visual arts magazine for the region because he felt that too many artists weren’t getting the kind of exposure they deserve.

Thus, ‘Barbed‘ magazine was born.

The publication will celebrate the release of its seventh issue this Saturday, April 27 at Red Bull House of Arts Detroit

 CultureShift’s Amanda LeClaire spoke with Herrera about becoming a magazine editor and why he chose the name ‘Barbed.’
