Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson Joins Detroit Today to Talk Science in Film

Tyson will be giving his talk “An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies” at the Fox Theater on Monday, May 20th.

For astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, it’s not enough to just make people care about science. He wants them to enjoy — or even love — learning about how the universe works.

“When I’m in front of an audience of a city, for me, it’s still a very personal one-on-one. You all just came to my living room and we’re all going to have a conversation about the universe,” says Tyson. “It’s just how I think about learning.”

You’ve seen him on TV documentaries and even sitcoms. He hosted the FOX series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odysseywhich currently airs on National Geographic.

And now, Tyson is coming back to the Fox Theater in Detroit to give his talk “An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies” where he’ll review and sometimes critique the science our favorite movies got wrong, and sometimes gets right.

Tyson joins Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson ahead of his appearance at the Fox Theater on Monday, May 20th at 7:30pm.
