Coup D’Etat Brings Contemporary Women’s Lifestyle Shop to New Center
“I really want women to feel comfortable trying things that they might [normally] not,” says Coup D’état owner Angela Wisniewski, who will open her new shop inside the Cadillac Place building on Saturday, November 9th.
Inside the Albert Kahn-designed Cadillac Place building in the city’s New Center neighborhood, there’s a new shop opening November 9th by a longtime Detroit stylist Angela Wisniewski.
The retail shop is called Coup D’état. Wisniewski sees the new retail venture as an ode to the neighborhood’s history as a fashion hub as well as a look towards its future with contemporary women’s items including accessories and clothing.
In an interview with CultureShift’s Ryan Patrick Hooper, Wisniewski describes Coup D’état as “edgy, feminine, modern, but still approachable.”
“It upped my vision and added this elegance,” says Wisniewski. “I thought it would be a little more tricky to pull this off and make the space feel modern given the architecture and the neoclassical design, [but] everything just fit perfectly.”

Coup D’état will host a grand opening party on Saturday, November 9th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.
