Detroit Haunts Alice Cooper

Just in time for Halloween, the rocker who specializes in ghoulish stage shows was in his native Detroit. But Alice Cooper says Detroit is always a part of him. And he plans to prove it on his newest record.

For many music fans the combination of native Detroiter, hard rock and Halloween theatrics means one thing: Alice Cooper.

The man who sang “Welcome to My Nightmare” and made electric chairs and guillotines a part of his stage act was in Detroit yesterday for a benefit to help The Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinson’s.

But Alice Cooper says Detroit never really leaves him. In fact he’s working on a record focused entirely on the city.

Cooper says Detroit’s music history and its current rebirth are worth celebrating.
