Satori Shakoor is the founder of The Secret Society Of Twisted Storytellers and executive producer of Twisted Storytellers on WDET. She says her life has changed drastically in the past two years. “I have been through a mastectomy, I’ve been through chemo, I’ve been through radiation, and coming out somehow feeling younger.” Shakoor says her comfort comes from “being able to choose life … to choose life and be full of it.”

Shakoor says throughout the pandemic, she’s reminded herself that challenges are opportunities to grow and overcome. “It’s like seeing cracks in the concrete and then seeing little plants growing up through the cracks. That’s what we’re like right now, slowly coming, emerging.”
