The proposed route for Segement 9, which would've completed the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail and brought trail users to the northernmost reaches of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Now, the Park Service says it will pause the project indefinitely due to concerns from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
