A new book that chronicles the history of the U.S. Postal Service says the democratic process and the country’s infrastructure grew out of demand for information. Winifred Gallagher is author of How the Post Office Created America. She tells WDET’s Amy Miller that the post office helped shape democracy in the U.S.
