‘Chasing Carbon Zero’ by Detroiter Miles O’Brien premieres on PBS
The latest NOVA film features the Detroit science journalist as he explores some growing opportunities for the U.S. to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
“Chasing Carbon Zero” is the newest installment of the wildly popular NOVA documentary film series on PBS. The episode was reported, produced and directed by Detroit science journalist Miles O’Brien, who grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms.
During the film, O’Brien chats with Linda Zhang, the chief engineer for the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning, and takes a deep dive into induction stovetops and how they compare to open flame cooking. The film also follows the creation of jobs as traditional and start-up companies are vying to lead the way in new renewable energy sources.
O’Brien joined CultureShift to discuss what he learned while making the episode, and what lifestyle changes we can make to help the country reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
