Detroit food entrepreneur Margo Moon has dreams of expanding her award winning restaurant Shell Shock’D Tacos so people outside of the D can enjoy her powerful flavors.
Shell Shock’D Tacos began as a pop-up.
In 2021, Margo Moon and friends had an idea to create street style tacos with a Detroit flair, but what does that mean?
Well, for Detroit flair, she’s made it a point to include familiar foods like elote but combining its flavors with chicken wings.
Moon offers a slew of options, from tacos, of course, to crunch wraps, birria egg rolls, which she says all include fresh ingredients. In 2024, Shell Shock’D ranked No. 8 on the Detroit Free Press Top 10 Restaurant List.
In 2022 and 2025, they won the Taco Showdown at Eastern Market. It crowns the best taco and the best margarita among participating restaurants.
As Shell Shock’D continues to grow in Detroit, Moon is setting her eyes to other states, hoping to franchise so everyone can experience Shell Shock’D Tacos.
