A community of Michiganders from disparate backgrounds connect around their love for the shooting sports.

Framed by WDET is an audio-visual experience, produced in partnership with 18 artists, who tell the story of moments and spaces where people come together and find belonging in and around Detroit. The series of stories and photos give a unique look into the diversity of our region, and this feature is no different.

Framed by WDET: Home on the Range contrasts subtle shooting sounds with cozy conversations between the myriad of personalities one can find in the shooting sports.

Producer Shelby Jouppi and photographer Sean Work capture stories of family, camaraderie, and love for nature through audio interviews and photographs. From old friends and new friends to families and their dogs, everyone in this story converges for a day of shooting at Rooster Ranch, a pheasant preserve in the thumb of Michigan.

It’s not always for the kill, you know,” says one Ranch visitor. “It’s the people that you’re with, it’s the environment, it’s conservation, you’re getting out into nature, so it’s always a good day out.”
